Machining

Precision CNC machining built for accuracy, consistency & production efficiency

Machining

At Dajcor Aluminum, machining is fully integrated with our extrusion and fabrication capabilities to deliver complete, production-ready components.

Our CNC machining centers provide state-of-the-art capability for precision production machining, supporting both simple and complex part requirements with consistent, repeatable results.

Machining an extrusion is a different problem from machining billet. The section arrives with most of its geometry already formed, so the work is in the features that extrusion cannot produce — precise holes, faces, threads and pockets — and in holding them consistently across thousands of parts.

Machining operations

Our CNC centres cover both simple secondary operations and fully machined components.

CNC milling and turning
Faces, pockets, bores and turned features to drawing.
Multi-axis machining
Features on several planes in one setup, reducing handling and stack-up error.
Tight-tolerance work
Dimensions held where fit, alignment or sealing depends on them.
Drilling, tapping and piercing
Hole patterns and threads, including high-count repeat patterns.
Mitering and notching
Angled cuts and cut-outs for framed and jointed assemblies.
Tube laser cutting
Complex hole and slot patterns in hollow sections in a single operation.
Complex profile machining
Machining multi-hollow and asymmetrical extrusions without distortion.
High-volume production

Where We Add Value

We work with your team to optimize designs for machining efficiency and cost reduction.

By integrating machining early in the process, we help:

  • Reduce post-extrusion processing costs
  • Improve part consistency and performance
  • Streamline production and assembly

Why Dajcor

Dajcor has run as a one-stop, dual-source supplier since 2010, with plants in Chatham, Ontario and Chavies, Kentucky. Removing subcontractors from the chain is what shortens lead times and keeps handling marks and freight costs down.

  • Fully integrated extrusion + machining + fabrication
  • Reduced handling and faster lead times
  • Consistent quality from a single source
  • Scalable production from prototype to high volume
  • Reliable North American manufacturing

From Prototype to Production

How a project moves from first conversation to delivered parts.

Design review and feasibility
We review the drawing, confirm which dimensions are critical and check fixturing approach.
Prototype machining and validation
Prototype parts are machined and measured so the programme and fixtures can be validated.
Process optimization
Cycle time, tooling and fixturing are optimised before the part goes into volume.
Production scaling
Production scales with in-process inspection to hold dimensions across the run.
Assembly-ready delivery
Parts are delivered machined, finished and ready for assembly.

Common questions

Answers to the questions that come up most often at the quoting stage.

Yes. In addition to aluminum extrusion, Dajcor offers a range of secondary operations to support complete component manufacturing.

These services may include precision machining, fabrication, cutting, drilling, and finishing processes such as anodizing or powder coating, depending on the requirements of the application.

Providing these value-added services allows customers to streamline their supply chain by sourcing fully finished components from a single manufacturing partner.

Aluminum extrusion tolerances depend on several factors, including the size and complexity of the profile, wall thickness, alloy selection, and the circumscribing circle diameter (CCD) of the extrusion. Industry standard tolerances are typically based on guidelines published by the Aluminum Association, which define achievable dimensional accuracy for solid, hollow, and semi-hollow profiles.

With Dajcor’s 7", 8" and 9-inch extrusion presses, we are able to produce a wide range of aluminum profiles that meet standard Aluminum Association tolerances across many applications. During the design and quoting stage, our team reviews each profile to confirm achievable tolerances based on the specific geometry and manufacturing requirements.

Working collaboratively during the design phase helps ensure the extrusion profile is optimized for manufacturability while maintaining the dimensional precision required for the application.

Lead times for custom aluminum extrusions can vary depending on factors such as profile complexity, die production, finishing requirements, and order volume.

For mill-finish extrusions using existing tooling, typical lead times are approximately two weeks, although this may fluctuate depending on production scheduling and seasonal demand.

New projects that require die manufacturing, sampling, or additional finishing processes may require additional time. Our team works closely with customers during the quoting and design phase to establish realistic timelines and ensure efficient production scheduling.
